Peeta and katniss’ daughter slowly began to learn about the games and the Capitol and the rebellion in school. One day she came home and told her parents that a real soldier rebellion veteran came to school to talk to them. She turned to her mother and asked, “Did you know a soldier named Gale Hawthorne?”
As may or may not know, we are launching an FRT podcast. The podcast will air every fortnight starting the 22nd of December. The podcast will be hosted by feministroosterteeth, mmmogar, and consultingtimewizard, with a fourth guest from the community who will change every week. Our first guest will be alliekhaleesi. We’ll be talking about Rooster Teeth, gaming, social justice, and any other random topics that come up. We are aiming to keep it fairly light-hearted, though we will be discussing more serious issues if they arise. Any discussion around triggering content will be labelled accordingly.
If you are interested in being a guest, please let me know. There is no real criteria for being a guest on the podcast (except for being an RT fan) - you are welcome no matter how many followers you have or how well known you may or may not be. There will be a screening process in place (we don’t want someone who is trolling to derail the podcast or to ditch us at the last moment) which will mostly consist of getting to know each other (if I don’t already know you!). Any applicants must be comfortable with giving their Skype to the main hosts. Please message me if you are interested.
how do i be involved. i want to be involved. i can do the internet html code-y thing. can that help
We say it is yellow because that’s what color it is.
Simple enough, let’s move on.
Here is some white paper.
We say it is white because that’s what color it is.
Now, imagine some stuff happens to the white paper - something spills on it, it’s left in the sun in a hot car, whatever. It is acted upon by some force, and now it looks like this:
We can now describe the paper as yellowed. It was originally white, but something caused it to become yellow. Yellow has happened to it - it is yellowed.
Describing someone as “transgendered” does not make sense, because that person has not been transgendered by anything. Transgender did not happen to that person, they just are transgender.
Just like you wouldn’t describe a black person as “blackened” - they weren’t originally some other color until something came along and acted blackness upon them, they just are black - you shouldn’t describe a transgender person as “transgendered”.
Am I the only one who doesnt like the new Roosterteeth system, where they put the video up on Roosterteeth.com first and then on Youtube a few days later? I constantly see gifs of stuff from vids I cant watch yet because they arent avaliable on Youtube yet, and that makes me sad. :(
You could always watch it on their site, though? Some content is pre-released to sponsors, but it’s only $10 for every six months. They do need to generate income in order to supply up with all of these awesome videos, and whilst youtube views help with that, it makes basic business sense to release some videos early on their site or early to sponsors as it gives people incentive to buy sponsorships and go on their site (where they can also buy merchandise etc.).
Put it this way. When I write, I post my work (often in chapters) across all kinds of sites for exposure. However, I release content on my OWN site a week early to give an incentive for people to come and visit my own site. And I think that’s what’s going on here.
The RT site (as far as I’ve observed, I could be wrong) is in decline. Messaging boards aren’t hugely relevant to people any more (and those they are relevant to tend to frequent places like Reddit). The fandom has branched out to youtube, twitter, Reddit, tumblr etc. There’s nothing wrong with fandom existing in social media (hell, I don’t really get involved in the RT site myself much - I’m a sponsor and I use it to watch videos sometimes but that’s pretty much it). But I can understand and support a drive to get some traffic back toward the RT site. If you have some extra money lying around, it doesn’t hurt to get a sponsorship (and it’s super cheap) and it means you get early access to some of the videos (the ones you’re seeing in the tags early, no doubt!). Also, even if you don’t want to become a sponsor or don’t have the money (which is fine!), you can make a FREE account and all of the videos will still be available to watch on the RT site (except for the early release sponsor videos obviously).
The only downside is that I don’t like that the RT site doesn’t seem to save where you leave off. A lot of the time, especially with Full Plays, I watch in two chunks so it’s useful that youtube keeps your place. The RT site doesn’t do that, as far as I’ve observed.
they’ve always released like that though?
sponsors, general site, and then youtube
the only exception i think is the minecraft lps which release at the same time
Yeah, it’s always been my understanding that that’s how they release it too. That’s how I would release it. I also imagine that releasing it on youtube and the site at the same time would be a pain in the arse, especially with youtube’s upload times. Although I guess they could just pre-upload and make it private until they’re ready to go with it? But either way, it doesn’t really matter, I think it makes total sense to release the videos as they do.
Since the beginning, that’s how RoosterTeeth has released their videos, by staggering them over groups of people. They used to have to do it that way on their website because back when Red vs Blue first came out, their servers couldn’t handle everyone watching the videos at once. In that sense though, each ‘group’ release was hours apart though, not days. But my guess is they’ve just kept that going. Sponsors can also watch their Podcasts and The Patch live as well.
Also in terms of the Minecraft Let’s Plays; I seem to remember a time a few months ago maybe where the new MC LP was listed on their website but not on YouTube and their website said it would be released to members in like an hour or so, and this was before I became a sponsor. So idk maybe they don’t really do that anymore? They’ve also been putting “see new videos first at roosterteeth.com” or “achievementhunter.com” at the beginning of their videos lately, so it seems like they’re trying to get more traffic on their website as opposed to their videos being strictly YouTube based.
Although, I agree it’s nice that YouTube keeps my spot if I stop watching it and come back to the page later that day or even the next day. And that’s synced across my devices so I can sit on the couch and start watching a new let’s play then go into the computer room and sit on my computer, pull up YouTube, and the video is at the same spot where I left off on my iPod.
watching the not animated rt recap and the whole time i was looking at all the motion capture ball things on barbara and there were a lot on her chest and i kept thinking that was gross. and near the end she makes a comment about it, saying that she doesn’t think they need that much motion capture there. idk if she was in on the whole joke but regardless, that was kinda gross and objectifying towards women… it was like that new sponsor x-ray specs vine all over again
